MBA (Retail Management)
In today’s rapid changing environment, Retail is the flavor of the industry and
icing on the cake. The word retail is extracted from the French word “retaillier”
meaning ‘to break bulk’. Retail, today is a synonym for growth of an organization.
Retailing is the final step in the distribution of merchandise - the last link in
the Supply Chain - connecting the bulk producers of commodities to the final consumers.
It covers diverse products such as food, apparels, consumer goods, financial services
and leisure. Generally, we can say that it is selling to the customer which is also
a synonym for management.
The retail market in India is increasingly becoming the most attractive and enthralling
market globally. Organized retail penetration is on the rise and proffers an attractive
proposition for new entrants both domestic and foreign, as well as scope for expansion
for existing players. With a number of domestic and international brands available
in stores, metros and smaller cities in addition to a wide range of product offerings
from food and grocery to furniture and fixtures, the Indian consumer is fast embracing
modern retail. Retail, is the need of the hour of each and every business today
to survive and grow. Its presence is not limited to malls and shops but it is also
in banking, telecom, hotels and many other sectors.
Since, retail is an organized industry; the management skills needed are of utmost
importance as in all other organized sectors. Consumer is the king into today’s
era and the marketing strategies have changed from customer satisfaction to customers
delight. The industry demands for promising managers with expertise in retail. And
UIAMS believes in providing the same.
